The new generation Volvo XC60 was launched in India today in a single ‘Inscription’ variant, at a price of INR 55.90 lacs (ex-showroom India). The XC60 has been one of Volvo’s largest selling model, with nearly a million units sold globally. It has also been very well received in India, making up for almost a third of the company’s total sales here.
The new XC60 has an athletic sculpted exterior with the signature Thor’s Hammer and Volvo’s tail lights, with tweaked dimensions (longer & squatter) for a sporty appeal. The interior is a blend of Scandinavian luxury with nappa leather fine wood along the dashboard that has the 9″ portrait-oriented iPad-like touchscreen unit from the XC90.
The new XC60 is powered by a twin-turbo engine that delivers 173kW / 235 hp and 480 Nm torque. The engine is mated with an 8-speed gearbox with paddle shifts, that adds to a sporty drive behind the wheel. There are five drive modes – Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-Road and Individual, providing a mix of easy comfort and adventurous driving experience.
The XC60 comes with a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround system, ventilated front seats, electrically adjusted seat extenders and a super quiet cabin. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control, 12.3” instrumentation cluster, heads up display, distance alert, rear and front park assist pilot, 360 degrees parking camera, diamond cut alloy wheel, hands-free power tail gate opening and closing.
It comes loaded with safety features that help protect both occupants as well as pedestrians and cyclists. For instance, at speeds up to 50 km/h, the City Safety collision avoidance technology can brake automatically if it detects a vehicle in front. The IntelliSafe technologies like Electronic Stability Control add to reassuring driving stability in all conditions. Steer Assist has been added to the City Safety system, and a safety feature called Oncoming Lane Mitigation uses steer assist to help mitigate head-on collisions, while Volvo’s Blind Spot Indication System now uses Steer Assist functionality to reduce the risk of lane-changing collisions.
The XC60 is available in 4 exterior colours – Crystal White Pearl, Black Max, Havana Brown & Pine Grey; and 3 interior colour options – Amber, Maroon Brown or Blond.
