Volkswagen launches the new Passat at an introductory price of INR 29.99 lacs

Mumbai, 10 October 2017: Volkswagen has launched its luxury sedan, the all new Passat in India at a starting price of INR 29.99 lacs. The Passat was first introduced in India in 2007 and subsequently withdrawn due to low volumes. The new model is based on the MQB platform and powered with an efficient 2.0L TDI diesel engine. It comes with the 6-speed automatic DSG gearbox and generates peak power of 130kW (177 PS) and a torque of 350 Nm in the 1500-3500 rpm range.

It has several premium luxury and safety features including nappa leather seats, 9 airbags, Hill Start Assist, Auto Hold, Reverse Camera with 360 degree view, Park assist, App connect, Dynamic chassis control, 3 zone Auto AC, Electric adjustable front seat, Full LED Headlamps with DRLs and LED tail lamps, among others.

The new Passat is up to 70 kgs lighter as compared to its predecessor, and offers improved rigidity and driving comfort. Safety features and assistance systems are uncompromising and standard across variants.

It sees some improvement in the style department as well, with a progressive design strategy that gives it a dynamic & sleek presence. The side windows come with chrome moulding and the bumpers with decorative trim add to the premiumness. The Full LED headlights and tail lights provide better illumination with low energy consumption. It has a 66 litre tank capacity and claims to have a fuel efficiency of 17.42 km/l.
