The powerful, versatile, athletic new BMW X3 xDrive 30d with M Sport pack

New Delhi, 07 June 2015: The new BMW X3 xDrive30d M Sport was launched in India today. The launch adds the familiar 3.0 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine to the X3 lineup. With this, the BMW X3 now boasts of two engine variants, the BMW X3 xDrive 20d and BMW X3 xDrive 30d.

The new BMW X3 30d will be locally produced at the BMW Plant Chennai and is now available at dealerships across India at a price of INR 59.90 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi).

The new BMW X3 xDrive 30d M Sport packs in a bit of adventure into everyday life. It has the perfect blend of sportiness, performance and design to take on small and big challenges of day to day urban driving – be it a work day or the weekend.

The M Sport package gives the BMW X3 a much more sportier persona than before. Exterior features in the package include the M Aerodynamic package, a choice of six individual exterior colours including the exclusive Carbon Black metallic and M light-weight alloy wheels, among other enhancements. Overall, it looks even more robust and muscular. The M Aerodynamic package with body coloured front and rear bumpers, the metallic diffuser insert and side sills with additional lighting edge maximize the SUV’s road presence.

The interior upgrades include sport seats for driver and passenger, the multi function M leather steering wheel, BMW Individual headliner and M door sill finishers. The Panorama glass roof adds a touch of luxury & style to the interiors.

We got a glimpse of the X3’s new 3.0 litre engine when we tested the 530d M Sport and X5 recently, and we concluded that its one of the most refined engines on the road today. In the X3 xDrive 30d, the engine is tuned to produce 258 BHP and 560 Nm of torque. The increase in performance cuts the vehicle’s 0 to 100 km/h acceleration to just 5.9 seconds, and with a top speed of 232 km/h, the X3 now has the performance to match its looks.

The engine is paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with Cruise Control, which provides precise and seamless gear changes. At any time, in any gear, the transmission collaborates perfectly with the engine, enabling it to develop its full power while maximizing efficiency.

BMW’s Driving Experience Control switch enables the driver to choose between different driving modes, e.g. Comfort, ECO PRO, Sport and Sport+, to suit different driving conditions. There are some new features from BMW ConnectedDrive on board too, including the next generation of BMW iDrive (the on-board Driver Information System) with touch controller, BMW Navigation Professional (integrated Global Positioning System – GPS) with 25.9 cm colour display with 3D maps, high-end Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon and Connectivity through Bluetooth and USB devices. Park Distance Control (PDC) rear and front along with rear view camera come as standard features.
