BMW announces new prices with increased level of localization

Gurgaon, India, 09 July 2015: BMW India has announced new prices for its portfolio of locally produced cars, after increasing the level of localization at BMW Plant Chennai up to 50 percent. Proud to ‘Make in India’, the company intends to benefit from the dynamics of the Indian market with an accelerated localization program that makes its wide range of luxury vehicles accessible to Indian customers at an attractive value proposition.

The BMW 7 series

Since it started operations on 29 March 2007, BMW Plant Chennai has continuously increased the number of its locally produced car models. Presently, the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW 5 Series, the BMW 7 Series, the BMW X1, the BMW X3 and the BMW X5 are locally produced at BMW Plant Chennai.

There is a significant number of auto components sourced locally for production as well: Engine and Transmission from Force Motors; Axles from ZF Hero Chassis; Door Panels and Wiring Harness from Draexlmaier India; Exhaust Systems from Tenneco Automotive India; Heating, Ventilating, Air-conditioning and Cooling Modules from Valeo India and Mahle Behr and Seats from Lear India.
