MINI Cooper S GP Inspired Edition: Thirty Units. One Obsession.
The most track-focused MINI you can currently buy in India just got a limited-edition sibling. And it only exists in thirty copies.
MINI launched the Cooper S GP Inspired Edition in India this week, choosing Surat’s newly opened MINI Eminent Cars dealership as the venue. The car is available immediately as a CBU import, priced at INR 58.90 lacs (ex-showroom), and if the number on the C-pillar badge — 1/30 — means anything to you, you already know whether this is your car or not.
The look
Legend Grey is the only exterior colour on offer, which is the right call. It’s a serious, almost purposefully understated base — and MINI has used that restraint to make the Chilli Red elements hit harder. Roof, mirror caps, bonnet and side stripes, wheel hub caps: all red. The JCW front, side and rear winglets give the car a lower, wider stance that earns its keep rather than merely decorating the flanks. The JCW rear diffuser and spoiler extension complete the picture at the back. The 17" JCW Sprint Spoke alloys are standard.
It reads as a car that has somewhere to be. Quickly.
Inside
The GP Inspired Door Sills glow silver when you open the door. The floor mats carry the 1/30 designation. The JCW Steering Wheel with paddle shifters is there. The Vescin and Cord combination upholstery in JCW Black is the right material choice — textured, purposeful, entirely appropriate to the brief.
The 240mm circular OLED touchscreen runs MINI’s Operating System 9. Harman Kardon surround sound, Head-Up Display, Fisheye Camera, Digital Key Plus, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless charging are all standard. The MINI Experience Modes — including the go-kart inspired mode that gives the car its most characterful personality — are present and accounted for.

What it does
The 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder produces 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque from 1,450 rpm. Zero to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. Top speed is 242 km/h. The seven-speed dual-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission, adaptive suspension and JCW Sport Brakes are all standard. This is a Cooper S in its most focused configuration — not a track car, but a road car that remembers where it came from.
The ownership
Two-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, 24x7 roadside assistance, both transferable. Service packages from three years or 40,000 km, extensible to ten years or one lakh kilometres. Warranty extension available from year three onwards.
