New Range Rover Velar. A Fusion of Elegant Sophistication and Captivating Design
JLR India just dropped the revamped Range Rover Velar in India. An expression of modern luxury with top-notch tech, classic Range Rover style, and a dramatic, clean and reductive new design, it is available in Dynamic HSE with two powertrain options. The 2.0L petrol engine delivers 184 kW and 365 Nm torque and the 2.0L Ingenium diesel engine delivers 150 kW and 430 Nm torque.
Velar showcases a minimalist design philosophy with an updated exterior and revamped interior, including the characteristic floating roof, unbroken waistline and flush deployable door handles. It sports a new grille, new Pixel LED Headlights with jewel-like effect Signature Daytime Running Lights, and offers a choice of exterior and interior colours to suit various preferences. There are four exterior colours and two slick interior setups – Zadar Grey for ultimate luxury and Varesine Blue for a designer touch. These are complemented by a curated choice of details, including new Moonlight Chrome on the steering wheel, centre console surrounds, and air vents. Tactile Shadow Grey Ash wood veneer trim finisher underline its overall posh characteristics.
In terms of technology, the Velar boasts an advanced infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless charging & fast charging, and a premium Meridian audio system that delivers high-fidelity music playback using up to 12 speakers and 400 W of amplifier power for an immersive listening experience. Additionally, it prioritises passenger comfort with features like air purification and configurable cabin lighting. Velar features the latest evolution of Range Rover’s next-generation Pivi Pro infotainment system as its centrepiece – a single 28.95 cm (11.4″) floating curved glass interface that is ergonomically positioned and incorporates controls for all key vehicle functions. The system is designed to ensure that 80% of tasks are performed within two taps of the home screen, to deliver the most user-friendly technology experience possible.
On the road, Velar ensures safety and visibility with its state-of-the-art Pixel LED headlights and Adaptive Driving Beam. It also offers off-road capabilities through features like Terrain Response 2® and a suite of cameras, that allows the driver to adjust vehicle settings to suit the driving environment, with a choice of Eco, Comfort, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Dynamic and Automatic mode. Each alters the calibration of the engine, transmission, all-wheel drive system, suspension, and stability control systems for optimum traction and composure. An innovative camera feature is the award-winning ClearSight Ground View, enabled by the 3D Surround Camera, that cleverly stitches together camera feeds to offer a virtual view below the bonnet, making it seem invisible. Cameras positioned in the front grille and on the door mirrors offer an accurate representation of different terrain or potential hazards. That apart, customary Range Rover refinement is a given, with heightened comfort and convenience features.
