BMW X3 M40i launched in India

The first-ever BMW X3 M40i has been launched in India as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) model and will be offered in limited numbers through the BMW Online Shop. Bringing M Performance to BMW's popular Sports Activity Vehicle, the X3 M40i combines exhilarating six-cylinder performance with everyday versatility. Its bold design, electrified powertrain, precision handling and meticulously crafted cabin create a compelling balance of dynamic driving, refined comfort and everyday practicality.

Priced at INR 86.50 lacs (ex-showroom), the BMW X3 M40i is offered in two metallic paint finishes, Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire, complemented by exclusive Black Sensatec Perforated upholstery. 

Exterior

The BMW X3 M40i adopts a distinctly sportier design with a host of M-specific styling elements. Up front, the signature BMW kidney grille features M double grille bars in high-gloss black, complemented by an M badge that subtly reinforces its performance pedigree. Adaptive LED headlights with Matrix technology and M Shadow Line lights with darkened accents lend the front fascia a sharper, more purposeful appearance.

Further enhancing its athletic stance are high-gloss black exterior mirrors, black chrome free-form tailpipe finishers and the distinctive "Two Teeth" rear design. The M High Gloss Shadow Line package extends the blacked-out treatment to the window surrounds, roof rails and kidney grille frame, creating a cohesive, performance-inspired aesthetic.

The X3 M40i rides on standard 20" M light alloy double-spoke 699M wheels wrapped in staggered mixed tyres measuring 245/45 R20 at the front and 275/40 R20 at the rear. Completing the package are M Sport brakes with striking red brake callipers, underscoring the SUV's dynamic character.

Interior

The cabin combines modern luxury with unmistakable M Performance character, creating a cockpit that is both driver-focussed and exceptionally comfortable. M Carbon Fibre interior trim lends a distinct motorsport-inspired ambience, while the M leather steering wheel, complete with multifunction controls, M-coloured contrast stitching and an open 6 o'clock spoke, reinforces its sporting intent.

Comfort is further elevated with electrically adjustable front seats featuring memory function, an exterior mirror package and M seat belts that add a subtle performance touch. Performance

Powering the BMW X3 M40i is BMW's acclaimed M TwinPower Turbo 3.0L inline six-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 360 hp (265 kW) and 500 Nm of torque between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. The performance SUV sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, combining effortless power with everyday refinement.

The engine is paired with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission that delivers smooth, rapid gear changes and works seamlessly with the powertrain. Standard equipment includes steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, cruise control with braking function and Automatic Differential Brakes (ADB) with an electronic differential lock, ensuring confident performance and precise handling in a variety of driving conditions.

Technology, Dynamics & Safety

BMW's intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive system continuously monitors driving conditions to optimise traction, agility and stability across varying road surfaces. Complementing it is Variable Sport Steering, which delivers precise, responsive feedback with minimal steering input, while red-painted M brake callipers bearing the M logo further reinforce the SUV's performance credentials.

Inside, the driver-centric cockpit is powered by BMW Operating System 7.0 and features a fully digital 12.3" instrument cluster paired with a high-resolution 12.3" Control Display with 3D Navigation. BMW Gesture Control allows selected functions to be operated using intuitive hand movements, while the BMW Head-Up Display projects key driving information directly into the driver's line of sight. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with an inductive wireless smartphone charging pad integrated into the centre console, ensure seamless connectivity on the move.

Convenience is further enhanced by Parking Assistant Plus with a 360-degree camera system, while a 464-watt Harman Kardon Surround Sound System with 16 speakers and individually adjustable equaliser settings delivers an immersive in-car audio experience.

BMW EfficientDynamics technologies include the eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, the Active Air Stream Kidney Grille, Electronic Power Steering and BMW's near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution.
