Tiguan and Passat contribute to a steady first quarter for Volkswagen in CY2018

Volkswagen has registered a monthly sales of 3,715 cars for March 2018, which is a 15% growth over the previous month of the same year. Cumulative sales for the first quarter of CY2018 stands at 10,350 units.

The growth is powered by the Tiguan and the all-new Passat, with sales for both these premium award winning carlines gaining momentum month on month.

The eighth generation Passat has been one of the most successful premium sedans in the world, and rated as one of the most innovative cars in its class. The Tiguan on the other hand, is one of the world’s top 10 best-selling cars. In the first quarter of CY2018, Tiguan witnessed an 80% increase in sales volumes, compared to Q4 of CY2017.

With increased demand, the company has ramped up production for both carlines at its manufacturing facility in Aurangabad. Volkswagen began the month of March with a 500-car mega-delivery across dealerships and carlines on one single day to celebrate the onset of the New Year in the region. The year began with the initiation of deliveries of the Passat and the introduction of the Polo 1.0L MPI as well as two limited edition cars, the Polo Pace and Vento Sport.

In addition, the Tiguan and Passat have won a total of eight awards in India, and have been acclaimed for their built quality , performance and safety features.
