Mahindra unveils the refreshed XUV500 with improved performance and features
The XUV500 has been facing some heat since the launch of Jeep Compass, and has finally come up with an update. The refreshed SUV was unveiled today and gets some design tweaks, improved interiors, an enhanced suspension, higher power and torque. It also has a better ride quality, improved NVH levels and a quieter cabin than before.
Priced at INR 12.32 lacs for the W5 variant, it goes up to INR 17.88 lacs for the W11(O) AT variant (ex-showroom Mumbai). In all, there are 5 diesel manual variants, 4 diesel automatic variants and 1 petrol automatic variant.
The XUV500 was launched in 2011 and has more than 2 lac customer around the world. In its first major refresh, it gets new features like soft-touch leather on dashboard and door-trims, quilted leather seats, smart watch connectivity, new 6th generation electronically controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger (eVGT), connected apps & Ecosense Technology and Arkamys enhanced audio. It also gets icy blue lounge lighting, illuminated scuff plates and sporty aluminium pedals.
The new exterior has a wider grille with chrome inserts, fog lamps with chrome bezel, spit tail-lamps, a new spoiler, LED DRLs and 45.72 cm (235/60 R18) diamond-cut alloys. The interiors theme is tan and black, with a new piano-black center console and improved fit and finish.
Other features include an electric sunroof with anti-pinch, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, logo projection lamps on ORVMs, 7″ Touchscreen Infotainment with GPS Navigation, USB Audio/Video/Picture Viewer, Bluetooth, iPod Connectivity, AUX Input, Reverse Parking Camera with Dynamic Assist, Android Auto, Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC), Tire-Tronics (Tyre Pressure & Temperature Monitoring System), Push Button Start / Stop, Passive Keyless Entry, Smart Rain and Light Sensors, Cruise Control, Brake Energy Regeneration System, Voice Messaging System and Voice Commands with Voice Recognition.
Equipped with a more powerful mHawk155 engine, the new XUV500 comes with higher power of 114 kW (155 BHP) and higher torque of 360 Nm. The low and mid-range torque has improved, and that makes the urban driving experience better.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill hold and hill descent control and disc brakes on all wheels. In addition, the XUV500 also offers an Emergency Calling feature.
