Volkswagen Polo now comes with a compact 1.0L MPI engine

Volkswagen has introduced a new 1.0L MPI engine for the Polo. The earlier 1.2L MPI engine across the Volkswagen range in India will now be replaced by the 1.0 L MPI engine. Prices however remain the same, with the Polo Trendline starting from INR 5.42 lacs (ex-showroom).

The hatchback will now get an improved fuel efficiency of 18.78 km/l (as per ARAI) without compromising on performance. The new 1.0 L MPI engine will generate a peak power of 56 kW and a torque of 95 Nm providing enhanced agility and muscle in a compact package.

Since its launch in India in 2010, the Polo has had a fairly successful run and the new engine option is likely to further enhance its appeal amongst those looking for more fuel efficiency.
