#AutoExpo2018: New generation Swift launched at INR 4.99 lacs onwards
Greater Noida: Maruti Suzuki launched the third generation of its bestselling premium hatchback Swift, which has been entirely redesigned, and now comes with enhanced performance and safety features.
For over a decade, Swift has consistently been amongst the top 5 best-selling cars in India. The new model is built on Suzuki’s 5th generation HEARTECT platform and comes with auto gear shift technology for the first time. It has a superior power to weight ratio resulting in 10% improved acceleration, and best-in-segment fuel efficiency for both engine options – 22.0 km/l for the 1.2 L VVT petrol, and 28.4 km/l for the DDiS 190 diesel.
Performance is impressive with the petrol version returning peak power of 61 kW @6000 rpm and peak torque of 113Nm @4200 rpm. The diesel variant boasts of peak power of 55.2 kW @4000 rpm and maximum torque of 190 Nm @2000 rpm.
The new Swift has a modern contemporary styling with a single-aperture front grille that is complemented with an all-around seamless flow and sculpted body with strong shoulders. The wrap around windshield with unified DLO (day light opening) graphic extends to the back door glass, giving a striking visual statement of the floating roof. The LED projector headlamps are sleek and expressive, and the two-tone alloy wheels give it a sporty appeal.
The interiors feature good quality material with a coordinated color theme accentuated by touches of satin chrome finish. The new Swift is 40 mm wider with a 20 mm longer wheel base that creates additional cabin space. It has an unladen ground clearance of 163 mm. The highly balanced suspension results in better ride and comfort and the NVH performance has significantly improved.
Features include a 17.72 cm Smart Play Infotainment with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/ Mirror Link compatibility, voice recognition and an integrated parking camera. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX (child seat restraint system) which are standard across all variants.
Prices for the petrol variant start at INR 4.99 lacs for the LXi model and goes up to INR 6.96 lacs for the ZXi AGS. The diesel range start at INR 5.99 lacs for the LDi model and goes up to INR 7.96 lacs for the ZDi AGS model.
