Tata.ev has expanded the Curvv.ev lineup with the introduction of the Series X—two new variants that bring clarity, capability and a more resolved sense of purpose to its SUV-coupé experiment. Prices start at INR 16.99 lacs (ex-showroom), positioning it firmly in the emerging mid-SUV electric space.
Refining The Package
At its core, this update isn’t about adding more—it’s about tightening the brief. The Series X distils the Curvv.ev range into two clearly defined personas: Accomplished X 55 and Empowered X 55, both built around a 55 kWh battery pack and a claimed 502 km ARAI range. Real-world expectations hover closer to 400 km, which is where this car begins to make practical sense as an intercity EV.
The design remains unchanged. The Curvv’s SUV-coupé silhouette does look different on the streets, though not distinguished. But in a market that often defaults to the predictable, Curvv manages to hold its own. New colour options, including a striking Nitro Crimson, add some visual theatre, alongside the now-familiar #DARK treatment.
Underneath, it sits on Tata’s acti.ev architecture, delivering 167 hp and 215 Nm—figures that translate into easy, usable performance rather than outright urgency. This is an EV tuned for consistency, not theatrics.
Accomplished X 55: Where Everyday Usability Meets Intent
The Accomplished X 55 feels like the more honest expression of the two. It focuses on the essentials—panoramic sunroof, dual digital displays, wireless smartphone integration, and a 360-degree camera—without tipping into excess. There’s a clear emphasis on cabin comfort too, with ventilated seating (passive), leatherette upholstery, and thoughtful additions like rear sunshades. It’s a spec sheet that reads less like a checklist and more like a considered response to daily use.
Empowered X 55: The Fully-Loaded Statement
Step up to the Empowered X 55 and the tone shifts. This is the Curvv.ev at its most indulgent. Active seat ventilation, a powered driver’s seat, reclining rear seats, and a significantly upgraded infotainment and audio setup push it into near-flagship territory. A larger Harman touchscreen, JBL audio, and a full suite of Level 2 ADAS features underline its tech-forward positioning. Add to that 18" alloys, V2L/V2V capability, a powered tailgate, and layered lighting animations, and it becomes clear this variant is designed to impress as much as it is to function.
The Bigger Picture
What stands out here isn’t just the added equipment—it’s the attempt to simplify choice. By reducing overlap and clearly separating intent, Tata.ev is making the Curvv.ev easier to understand, and arguably, easier to recommend. The inclusion of a lifetime (15-year) high-voltage battery warranty adds another layer of reassurance, especially for buyers still on the fence about long-term EV ownership.
The Curvv.ev Series X doesn’t radically change the formula. Instead, it refines it—bringing sharper definition to an already compelling package. And in a segment that’s only just finding its feet, that kind of clarity matters.
