Emirates First Class Suites get a Mercedes-Benz inspired makeover
Dubai, UAE: Ever heard of the interiors of an aircraft taking inspiration from a car? Well it seems Emirates has gone ahead and done it. The refreshed interiors for its Boeing 777 aircraft now include fully enclosed First Class private suites, which are inspired by Mercedes-Benz. These personalized spaces come with floor to ceiling sliding doors and sleek design features inspired by the S-Class, taking luxury and privacy to the next level. Offering up to 40 sq. ft. of personal space each, they are spacious and laid out in a 1-1-1 configuration. Apart from the First Class, the Business and Economy Class cabins and the rest of the interiors have also gone through an expensive makeover, with newly-designed seats and upgraded inflight entertainment systems in all cabins.
Business Class now features fully-flat leather seats with personal minibars and Economy Class seats have adjustable full leather headrests. Throughout the aircraft the look is modern and airy, with a great amount of detailing and design touches such as textured walls and ceiling panels, lighting features, and more.
The S- Class inspiration in the First Class private suite is evident in several design details including the soft leather seating, high-tech control panels, and mood lighting. Soft greys, cream and champagne convey a contemporary feel, yet a sense of timeless luxury. Created in collaboration with Boeing, Rockwell Collins interior systems, Panasonic, Jacques Pierre Jean Design studio and Seattle-based design firm Teague, each private suite has fully flat beds and virtual windows for suites located in the middle aisle, that project the view from outside in real time. Passengers can communicate with cabin crew through video call and there is a service window for drinks and canapés to be served.
Other features include the personal mini bar, wireless controls to adjust seating positions, over 2,500 channels of on-demand entertainment on a 32-inch Full HD LCD TV screen, Bowers & Wilkins Active Noise Cancelling E1 headphones, and an inspiration kit which features a luxury Byredo skincare collection, Hydra Active moisturising pyjamas, and Bulgari amenity kits.
Emirates and Mercedes-Benz have also extended their partnership to provide a fleet of S-Class cars as part of its complimentary chauffeur-drive service. First Class passengers now arriving or departing in the UAE will enjoy a seamless journey from aircraft to home, and vice versa.
The latest Emirates 777 aircraft with the new features will enter commercial service on 1 December 2017, with the first flights heading to Geneva and Brussels.
Interestingly, celebrity show host and motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson is the face for the worldwide marketing campaign for the Emirates First Class private suites inspired by Mercedes-Benz.
