Mercedes-Benz launches the Beast of the Green Hell AMG GT R and AMG GT Roadster in India

Mercedes-Benz has launched two fascinating sports cars in India. The Beast of the Green Hell, AMG GT R, and its topless sibling AMG GT Roadster are the two latest additions in its performance car portfolio. As a continuation of the global celebration of #50YearsOfAMG, the two models from Affalterbach were launched by Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes- Benz India.

The AMG GT R features a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine which churns out peak power of 585 hp @6250 rpm and 700 Nm torque @1900-5500 rpm range. It has a top speed of 318 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in a staggering 3.6 seconds. Standard equipment includes a new Panamericana grille, AMG Traction control, AMG electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential, AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, AMG Performance exhaust system with titanium elements, AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, Carbon-fibre roof, light weight AMG Performance 10-twin-spoke forged wheels, AMG Interior Night package and AMG Performance steering wheel in black DINAMICA microfiber with top-stitching.

The AMG GT Roadster on the other hand is built to offer a sublime open-top driving performance, and is powered by the same engine. Peak power and torque is tuned to 476 hp @6000 rpm and 630 Nm @1700-5000 rpm respectively. It has a top speed of 302 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.  In terms of equipment, it has the same Panamericana grille, suspension, transmission and steering wheel, with AIRSCARF, Draught stop, Sporty red seat belts and an AMG Exterior Chrome package as added highlights.

Both models are highly customizable under the ‘designo’ platform which offers a choice of material and craftsmanship for a personalized Benz experience. It includes exclusive paint finishes, as well as high quality interior appointments like hand-sewn leather upholstery and trims made from fine wood or lustrous natural stone.

The GT Roadster is priced at INR 2.19 crore onwards and the AMG GT R is priced at INR 2.23 crore onwards (all India ex-showroom price).
