The Mini SUV: a collaborative effort to develop a concept car

Intelligent car concepts will be the next big thing in the auto world, and cars that will run on alternate energy will be the ones most in demand. My friend Joel D’Silva (who met me through my blog) lives in Pune, India and is a 10th grade student. Needless to say, he’s as passionate about automobiles as I am. Joel has been working on a few car designs, and together we have been toying with the idea of a concept car that runs on alternate energy.

Our first project is a Mini SUV concept that runs on hybrid technology and the first sketch is revealed here. This is more like an open source project, so everyone is free to join in and collaborate. But do remember that members must bring in some value into the development process for them to qualify participation. Joining this blog is mandatory, as we will be sharing only limited information in this forum, and a bit more amongst members.

The project progresses with one design at a time. We identify the segment and the price point based on our research and reader feedback. We then build in certain ‘must haves’ as the USP of the vehicle. The design concept, sketches, detailing, scaling, CAD and 3D modeling will be done by us. Certain technical specifications will also be pre-defined. Thereafter, it will be available for any manufacturer to develop into a real world concept car.

Over time we will hopefully have several such designs ready, which manufacturers can just pick up off the shelf. Thank you Joel for your inputs – this I am sure, is a drive in the right direction!
