Where: The stunning, scenic drive between Cairns and Cape Tribulation through the famous Daintree region of Tropical North Eastern Queensland (Australia) with my cousin
My Drive: Holden Commodore SV6
Distance covered: 300 km
No. of Days: Leisurely over 2 days
When: This was in May 2013 (Australian winter) so the temperature was cool. Days were pleasant and the nights had an ever so slight nip
The terrain: Superb ocean views with great vistas and lookouts along the way. A little drive off the highway took us through Aboriginal rainforest and a beautiful and popular swimming hole at Mossman Gorge. Port Douglas that you would pass through is a quaint one-street community with small restaurants and cafes
Driving experience: Very relaxing & calming. Since it was a short journey we stopped off a lot, and the roads were fantastic too
Highlights: The sight of the beautiful, almost empty white sand beach stretches and the deep blue ocean
Memorable moments: Every moment, since it was the journey that mattered, not just the destination
Gourmet delights: The absolutely lovely fresh sea food and wines were just outstanding
Places to stay: Camp sites & rainforest retreats
Splurged on:Nothing. Just a basic quaint trip!
Pro tips: Travel in the winter and pace yourself. Also drink lots of water and enjoy mother nature
