#AutoExpo2018: Hyundai showcases global EV ‘IONIQ’ and launches 2018 ELITE i20 at a starting price of INR 5.39 lacs

Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, 07 February 2018: Hyundai launched the 2018 model of its bestselling premium compact hatchback, ELITE i20 at the Auto Expo-the Motor Show 2018.

Also unveiled alongside was its global EV, IONIQ.

Under the theme ‘Experience Hyundai´, the brand is showcasing a number of exciting cars and technologies at its pavilion at the Auto Expo 2018 under three core pillars of Design & Safety, Future Technology and Digitalization.

The 2018 ELITE i20 will be available in two powertrains – a 1.4L CRDi Diesel (90 PS and 22.4 KGM) that comes with a 6-Speed Manual Transmission, and a 1.2L Kappa Dual VTVT Petrol (83 PS and 11.7 KGM) powered with a 5-Speed Manual Transmission.

The ELITE i20 has been a global success with over 400,000 customers since its launch in 2014. The new model features a premium cascade design high gloss front grille which gives it a sporty and bold stance. That apart, the projector headlamps with LED DRL, positioning and cornering lamps, front air curtains, stylish tail lamps and R16 diamond-cut alloy wheels together add to the premium appeal. The first-in-segment dual tone exteriors with red and orange interior colour packs further boost the sportiness.

Inside, it features a best in segment 17.77cm touchscreen infotainment system, audio video navigation with IPS (In Plane Switching) Display for a wide viewing angle, smart phone connectivity, Apple CarPlay, AndroidAuto & Mirror Link. That apart, driving information, road side assistance, driving history, eco driving and vehicle health history check are available at the click of a button. Other key features include a rear armrest with cup holder, sliding front armrest and rear AC vents.

Safety features include 6-airbags with front dual, side and curtain airbags, Antilock Braking System, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Impact Sensing Auto Door, Unlock and Reverse Parking camera with Dynamic Guidelines.

At the Expo, Hyundai is also demonstrating its latest advancements in green mobility. It’s electric vehicle IONIQ is the first in the world to offer all 3 electrified versions – Hybrid; Plug-in Hybrid & All Electric.

IONIQ has been recognised with the Red Dot Design Award & Good Design Award in 2016. It has an aerodynamics coupe-like silhouette that looks attractive, is engaging to drive and delivers well on fuel economy. It has received the maximum 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP and has a host of futuristic and advanced safety features including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and smart cruise control.

At the Hyundai Pavilion there are 8 Experience Zones offering simulated driving, FIFA Mind Game and other unique experiences such as Brainwave & Levitation Technology and Robotics dance. The zones include a Kids Zone, Road Safety Zone, Eco-friendly Zone, Mobility Zone (highlighting high performance sub-brand N which builds on its motorsport legacy), a Robotics Zone, the Kona Zone showcasing its SUV by the same name, an Award Zone, a Sports Zone (that establishes a connect with marque sporting events like BCCI cricket championships, FIFA football championships, Golf and World Rally Championship) and a JAI HO Zone which showcases the range of domestic product line-up to celebrate super performance by segment best and industry benchmark creator products.
