Land Rover & Oxfam lend a helping hand to flood victims in Assam

Mumbai, 30 November 2017: During the months of August and September 2017, Assam was ravaged with one of the worst floods in the history of the state. 86 villages in five districts were submerged causing substantial damage to lives and livelihood. Incessant rains across Assam led to massive disruption in the districts of Karimganj, where people were cut off from access to basic amenities.

In conjunction with Oxfam India, Land Rover reached out to the victims in the flood affected areas of Karimgunj, where they deployed the Discovery Sport to provide relief and support. The vehicles provided immediate and critical relief to the affected parts and over 2000 people were provided support.

The emergency response program included providing shelter and distributing hygiene kits to the most vulnerable households; public health promotion events to promote safe hygiene practices and messages to ensure access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene; and improved protection to flood affected people, especially women.
