Jeep Compass makes its entry at INR 14.95 lacs onwards

Mumbai, 31 July 2017: The Made-in-India Jeep Compass has been launched at a starting price of INR 14.95 lakh for the entry level petrol. The diesel range starts at INR 15.45 lacs and tops out at INR 20.65 lacs. Deliveries of the vehicle will begin nationwide on August 6, 2017 with the diesel manual transmission variants first, followed by the petrol automatic transmission variants closer to the festive season.

The Jeep Compass range is available in three trims – Sport, Longitude and Limited, in a combination of ten variants. The Sport comes with black upholstery while customers have a choice of dual tone cloth or leather upholstery, in the Longitude and Limited trims.

The Sport and Longitude trims are available in 4×2 drive, while the Limited comes with a choice of 4×2 as well as 4×4 option. The Limited is equipped with the Jeep Active Drive with Selec-Terrain Traction Management System with four terrain modes – Auto, Mud, Sand and Snow. A suspension damping technology called Frequency Sensitive Damping (FSD) is used to provide the most optimum ride despite road conditions. It has been tested for Indian road conditions and the ride quality is by far the best in comparison to many other SUVs, even in higher segments.

At first glance, the Jeep Compass resembles the Grand Cherokee and the front fascia keeps up with the design theme. It sports the seven-slot grille, and has the signature trapezoidal wheel arches. Inside fit & finish is above average and comes with the UConnect Infotainment system, with a 7-inch touch screen High Definition (HD) display and Integrated Control Stack that facilitates hands-free phone calls and text messages, cabin temperature and air flow control, Lights and Brakes adjustment, music and integrated voice command functions. It also supports Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

There are two powertrain options to choose from – the 2.0L Multi-Jet Turbo Diesel which churns out 173 PS power and 350 Nm torque, and the 1.4L Multi-Air Turbo Petrol with 162 PS power and 250 Nm torque. The Diesel variant is being offered with the 6-speed manual transmission while the Petrol comes with both options, the 6-speed manual as well as the 7-speed DDCT (Dry Dual Clutch Technology) or Automatic Transmission.

The vehicle’s build consists of 27 hot stamped body parts, the highest in any passenger vehicle made in India. Hot stamping makes the body architecture strong while keeping it light in weight, which ensures fuel saving as well. The body has both front and rear crumple zones, the latter being incorporated for the first time in a locally-made product.

The Compass comes with features such as Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with four modes, that keeps the vehicle absolutely stationary when applied and also accounts for human error. Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Hill Ascent Control (HAC), disc brakes on all four wheels, front airbags are all standard safety equipment across the range.

The Jeep Compass will be retailed out of 50 Jeep-flagship and FCA outlets, across 47 cities at the time of launch and further expand to 60 outlets by the end of this year. It will be available with a 3-year/100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty and in addition, a complimentary Road-side Assistance package for 3 years. Customers can avail of an extended warranty program to enjoy additional warranty up to 1 or 2 years. Customers can also choose from over 30 accessories which will be available at all authorised sales and service outlets.
