Jeep adds petrol variant of Grand Cherokee to its India portfolio

Mumbai, 19 July 2017: Jeep has added the ‘petrol’ version of the Grand Cherokee to its range in India. Priced at INR 75.15 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi), it is powered by the 3.6-litre Pentastar engine that produces 289.6 PS peak power and 347 Nm of torque. The engine is mated with an upgraded ‘Gen II’ 8-speed paddle shift automatic transmission, which is engineered to deliver improved overall performance resulting in less drag on the clutches. Its optimized lubrication has improved clutch durability, shift response, consistency enabling smoother quality downshifts. The new transmission will also be offered in the Diesel variants of the Grand Cherokee.

Jeep has also announced upgrades in the entire range of luxury SUVs along with new prices. The new ex-showroom New Delhi prices for the Completely Built Units (CBU) are:
– Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel: INR 75.15 lacs
– Grand Cherokee Summit Diesel: INR 85.15 lacs
– Grand Cherokee SRT: INR 1.07 crore
– Wrangler Unlimited Diesel: INR 64.45 lacs
– The price of the Wrangler Unlimited Petrol remains unchanged at INR 56.0 lacs

Besides the Gen II automatic transmission, the Grand Cherokee’s Limited and Summit variants now get the new 75th Anniversary fascia with enhanced ‘billet-like’ plating on the grille slots while the SRT gets upper and lower cooling intakes on the front fascia. New high gloss silver painted 18″ aluminium alloys will be standard on the Grand Cherokee Limited, while the Summit gets 20″ polished aluminium alloys with Technical Grey painted pockets. The SRT gets 20″ full polished alloys with satin clear coat, with a 20″ Matte Black split spoke option.

Electric Power Steering (EPS) replaces the electro-hydraulic power steering system for improved efficiency whilst vehicle dynamics can be adjusted providing three new select modes – Normal, Comfort and Sport. The rear park assist system ’ParkSense’ now includes a Start/Stop function that applies the vehicle’s brakes.

Air suspension is now standard on both the Petrol and Diesel ‘Summit’ trim of the New Grand Cherokee and LED fog lamps will be standard across the entire range. The new Grand Cherokee range will be available in six colours, with two new colour inclusions – Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Granite Crystal Pearl, True Blue Pearl, Velvet Red (new) and Diamond Black Crystal (new).

All trims, across the range now get an acoustic windshield which helps reduce noise and enhance comfort.
