Volvo launches its luxury sedan S90 at a price of INR 53.50 lacs
With its signature Scandinavian design and class-leading safety features, the S90 is quite on the mark. Priced at a very competitive INR 53.50 lacs (ex-showroom Mumbai) the S90 is a strong package that combines bespoke design with sublime comfort and ultra luxurious features.
The exterior of the S90 is based on the acclaimed ‘Concept Coupe’ which represents the next generation of Volvo cars. The chrome finished grille has concave elements that add dimension to the bold Volvo Ironmark and is flanked by the Full-LED Thor’s Hammer headlights. The sides have an elongated passenger cabin with a signature shoulder-line that resembles a luxury yacht. The overall length of 4963 mm makes the S90 the longest sedan in its class. The rear has a new tail lamp cluster with the prominent spread out word mark, and the Inscription variant boasts of a chrome finished exterior package.
The interior comes with a finely crafted leather dashboard, natural-finish walnut wood and chrome elements, perforated Nappa leather seats with heating and cooling, lumbar support and power adjustable seat extenders in the front, and a 4-zone climate control system. In the centre of the dashboard is the 9″ tab-like Sensus Touch display that was introduced in the new XC90 earlier. It is the most intuitive and advanced system that allows easy access to vehicle settings, entertainment, phone and connected apps, with built-in navigation and Apple CarPlay.
The S90 is powered by a sub 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel that delivers 190 Hp and 400 Nm torque. The powertrain is Euro 6 compliant and the exhaust manifold comes fitted with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) that restricts emission of particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10 by at least 95%.
The S90 personifies Volvo’s safety DNA with all protective safety features loaded as standard. They include Lane Keeping Aid, Run Off-Road Protection, Emergency Brake Assist, Seatbelt Pre-tensioners for all seats, Child Booster Cushion, Whiplash Protection and Side Impact Protection.
Other highlights include a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System, a sunroof, three drive modes – Eco, Comfort & Dynamic, a 12.3” digital instrumentation cluster, Heads-up Display, Power operated Tailgate with foot scanner, Rear Parking Camera, Park Pilot front & rear, Park Pilot Assist for Park-in & out, Parallel & Perpendicular parking.
