Jeep Compass to be manufactured out of Fiat Chrysler India’s Ranjangaon facility

Mumbai, 17 November 2016: The 2017 Jeep Compass will be built in four locations around the world – India, China, Brazil and Mexico. Fiat Chrysler India’s Ranjangaon facility has been identified as one of the global manufacturing facilities for the new compact SUV, which will be launched in over a 100 countries by next year. The India launch is scheduled by mid 2017 and there will be three trim configurations.

Jeep Compass is expected to raise the bar in the compact SUV segment and expand the brand’s global reach with its best-in-class 4×4 off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, authentic Jeep design, superior on-road driving dynamics, and innovative safety and advanced technology features.

It features two advanced 4×4 systems, each of which can send 100% of available torque to any one wheel. The Jeep Active Drive SelecTerrain 4×4 system provides the best four-wheel-drive performance on or off-road and in any weather condition.

Compass also gets FCA’s ‘small wide architecture’, a fully independent suspension and precise electric power steering that combine to deliver superior on-road driving dynamics. The upper body structure and frame are engineered as a single unit, with more than 65% high-strength steel used for maximizing vehicle dynamics and crash performance while optimizing weight efficiency.

A total of five engines, including three petrol and two diesel will be offered across different markets and India will get a petrol and a diesel powertrain in manual and automatic transmission options.

Compass has the authentic Jeep exterior styling with signature design elements like the seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches. The interior includes sculptured forms, high-quality materials and state-of-the-art technology. The fourth-generation Uconnect system with touchscreen includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and it will have more than 70 advanced safety and security features across global trims.
