New Delhi, 02 June 2016: With issues like environmental degradation, pollution-related challenges, climate change and energy security engulfing us from all sides, there is no better time to see more electric vehicles on the road, than now. Mahindra Electric has launched the eVerito, an all-electric, zero-emissions sedan suitable for intra city use, which will be available in Delhi to start with. Launched at a starting price of INR 9.50 lacs (ex showroom Delhi), it is powered by an electric drivetrain, and has a direct drive single speed transmission, with a range of 110 kms and a top speed of 86 km/h.

The eVerito is a green, connected, convenient and cost effective option for urban mobility. It is completely emission free with regenerative braking, that could add a few extra kms to the driving range. It has telematics, which can capture more than 190 vehicle performance parameters to enable remote monitoring and diagnostics. Customers get monthly statistics on charging patterns, distance travelled, Co2 saved, ECO points earned, fuel saved, etc. It also has a feature called Revive®, which can be activated to gain an extra 8 km of range, when the car is low on energy. It has an Intelligent Energy Management System which calculates SOC (Status of Charge) and Distance to Empty, ensures optimum range, monitors battery voltage, current temperature and communicates with the Telematics gateway to create an external interface.
The direct drive transmission in the vehicle eliminates the clutch and gives driving convenience similar to an automatic transmission vehicle. With no engine or clutch, the eVerito has fewer moving parts and therefore lower maintenance costs. It also comes with Hill Hold feature, which prevents the car from rolling backwards on an incline.
It can be charged at home through a 15Amp plug point. 0-100% charge takes 8 hours and 45 minutes, but one can get 0-80% charge in 1 hour and 45 minutes at any Mahindra Electric Fast Charging stations.
The eVerito has a low running cost of INR 1.15/km* (considering cost of electricity Rs 7/unit), and needs 18 units for full charge. It has a 72V long life and maintenance-free Lithium-ion battery pack.
In times to come, one hopes to see a conducive environment for electric vehicles in the country, thanks to the FAME scheme of the Government of India. The Delhi Government has also offered a local subsidy to the eVerito, which will be available in 3 variants.
After Delhi, the roll out will see the eVerito at select dealerships across other key cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Nagpur.
