The all-new MINI Convertible launched in India at INR 34.90 lacs
Philipp von Sahr, President of the BMW Group India put it quite appropriately, while describing the machine as a “spontaneous and emotionally intensive way of savouring authentic MINI driving fun.” He went on to add that “it’s a non-stop thrill behind the wheel for those who know there’s always a little more to feel.”
Undoubtedly the MINI Convertible is iconic and incomparable in its driving dynamics, as it seizes and shares those intangible moments of pure joy with its contagious enthusiasm and impulsive streak to create a world in technicolour, packed with impulse, emotion and unbridled energy.
The new MINI Convertible is fitted for the first time with a fully automatic, electrically powered soft top operation system that can be operated in just 18 seconds. It comes with fully integrated roll over protection and Wind Deflectors that can be locked into position behind the front seats to avoid unwanted air turbulence during open-top driving.
The interior features premium workmanship quality, a multi-function sport leather steering wheel and sports seats for the ‘go-kart’ like experience. It comes with a spacious luggage compartment with a capacity of upto 215 litres, which is about 25 percent more than its predecessor. Funky features include LED interior and ambient lighting as well as a projection of the MINI logo on the ground on the driver’s side when the door is opened.
With the 2L 4-cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo Technology under the hood, it has a peak output of 141 kW/192 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm torque. It does 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and has a top speed is 233 km/h. It is mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission with the option of a sport mode that can be operated through the shift paddles.
Driving modes include a standard MID mode, Sport mode and a Green mode. Standard safety equipment include front and passenger airbags, brake assist, dynamic stability control, crash sensor, anti-lock braking system, cornering brake control and run-flat indicator.
Other features include auto start/stop function, brake energy recuperation, shift point display and electromechanical power steering. Optional features like MINI Head-up Display, Harman Kardon hi-fi system and LED headlights with cornering function can be customized on demand. There is also an optional Wired Package that includes navigation, a bigger 8.8’ screen with touch controller and bluetooth mobile connectivity.
The new MINI Convertible has been launched as a completely built-up unit and is available at all dealerships across India at an ex-showroom price of INR 34.90 lacs.
