#AutoExpo2016: Audi launches the A8 L Security at INR 9.15 crore
The quattro® drive makes it the only luxury sedan with an all-wheel drive system that is offered directly from Audi as an armoured high-security vehicle. The safety cell integrates extremely resistant materials like aramide fabric, special aluminium alloys and a hot-formed steel armour that offers more protection despite its lower weight. The vehicle’s weight is relatively low partially due to the high share of aluminum in the body.
Standard security features include an armoured communication box in the luggage compartment, an intercom for communication with the outside world and selective door unlocking. Features can be further customized to include a fire extinguishing system, emergency fresh air system, a patented emergency exit system and more. Another feature is the security start, that allows the engine to be started remotely via a radio signal.
Two engine options are available – the 4.0L TFSI biturbo V8, with a power output of 435hp and 600Nm of torque; and a W 12 FSI with 500hp and 625Nm of torque. The top speed is electronically governed to 210 km/h.
Priced at INR 9.15 crores (ex-showroom New Delhi and Mumbai) the new Audi A8 L Security is available to order, and manufactured under the company’s supervision in a partnership with Neckarsulm plant at a secure, top-secret factory.
