JLR launches the 2016 Jaguar XJ, its new flagship luxury saloon in India

Mumbai, 28 January 2016: The 2016 Jaguar XJ has been launched in India, with prices starting from INR 98.03* lacs (ex-showroom, pre-octroi Mumbai). This flagship luxury saloon from JLR brings together cutting-edge technology, craftsmanship, sporting dynamics and opulent luxury, with a range of distinctive new features.
The new Jaguar XJ comes in two engine options – a 2.0L 177 kW turbocharged petrol engine which does 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds with 340 Nm of torque, and a 3.0L 221 kW turbocharged diesel engine that does 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds with 700 Nm of torque.
The new XJ takes luxury and performance to the next level with a more assertive look and a commanding road presence. The overall exterior teardrop design is aerodynamic, with the chrome outlined side windows highlighting the elongated form. The remodeled front includes a more upright grille design with mesh detail. The grille is framed by new energy efficient full-LED headlights with Daytime Running Lights. At the rear, updates include elliptical tailpipes, a revised bumper design and new tail lights with LED technology. The LED light pipes are brighter and more efficient, providing a striking, smooth uninterrupted ‘ribbon of light’, pinstripe graphic that combine with LED light chips to make the vehicle look even more distinctive.
The low and wide stance with a long taut waistline makes the inside of the cabin airy and spacious, with a panoramic roof adding to the sense of space. The in-car experience is also more productive, entertaining and relaxing. The high-definition Instrument Panel Display with the 31.24 cm TFT screen displays the speed, fuel and temperature gauges and can be set to display the most relevant information, depending on the situation and set up. This multi-layered virtual display has been remodeled with a new design and graphical interface, with advanced functionality. The Instrument Panel Display is fully integrated with the highly-responsive 20.32 cm touch-screen to put all information behind the wheel or on the centre console. The touch-screen has smartphone like multi-touch gestures such as pinch, zoom and swipe, and the audio output is derived through a MeridianTM 825W Digital Surround Sound System with 20 speakers including 2 subwoofers.
The front seats feature fine-tuned electric adjustment and 5 different massage programmes. The rear features airline-style reclining seats with 3 massage programmes and memory. They can be programmed to return to an upright position when the door is opened and a ‘front passenger seat away’ function allows rear occupants to move the empty front passenger seat forward to increase legroom and aid access. The Long Wheel Base (LWB) derivatives feature over a metre of legroom for rear passengers. They also feature a unique ‘limousine’ ride with revised air suspension settings for more comfort. The rear cabin has individual 25.90cm HD screens and the centre armrest houses the multimedia remote, the front and rear seat controls, and has some storage space. Folding business tables, LED reading lights, drop-in footrests and electric side rear window blinds add to the comfort, convenience and privacy.
Adaptive Dynamics ensure that the Jaguar XJ delivers the comfort and refinement of a luxury car with the responsiveness and driver involvement of a sports car. There is an All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) technology, that helps the car cope with low traction situations.
The new Jaguar XJ comes in 8 colour options – Polaris White, Rhodium Silver, Ammonite Grey, Dark Sapphire, Odyssey Red, Aurora Red, British Racing Green and Ultimate Black.
