The new 2015 Safari Storme arrives

Mumbai, 02 June 2015: Tata Safari was India’s first SUV, and has constantly evolved over time. In its latest avatar, the 2015 Safari Storme has been launched by Tata Motors with improved performance and better connectivity features, which give it a superior road presence and offers a more engaging drive. The new design and styling elements combined with the extra power add a touch of dynamism, boldness and aggression to the vehicle.

The new  Safari Storme has a VARICOR engine turbocharged with VTT (Variable Turbine Technology) and mated with a 5 speed manual transmission, which delivers 150 PS power & 320 NM torque. The 4×4 variant also features electronic shift-on-fly technology, enabling engagement of the 4×4 or 4X2 mode on the move. With better low end torque and a high fuel efficiency at 14.1 kmpl, the new Safari Storme boasts of an improved spec sheet as compared to its predecessor.

The rigid ladder frame chassis constructed with advanced hydro-formed members makes the vehicle lighter, yet gives better structural strength, adds robustness and improves load carrying capabilities. A turning circle radius of 5.4 meters makes maneuvering in tight confines easy, and the ground clearance of 200 mm adds to its off-roading capabilities.

Safety features include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) & EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), crumple zones, side intrusion beams on all four doors, dual SRS airbags and the collapsible steering column. Additional features like the inertia switch cuts off the fuel supply to the engine, unlocks all the doors and switches on the hazard warning lights, in an exigency.

On the exterior, the upper and lower front look grill comes in Charcoal Grey and Ocean Grey (variant wise) and a new diamond motif has been adopted, with ‘Storme’ embossed in black on the silver cladding of the hood of the vehicle. The roof rails sport subtle changes, adding a dash of sportiness. The interiors have a Java Black colour theme highlighted by silver accents on the dashboard and door handles. The seat fabric complements the interior with a fresh pattern on the insert and contrast stitching.

There is ample headroom and leg space for a family of 5 to travel in reasonable comfort, and there is adequate luggage space for longer rides. The 5-Link Suspension with Coil Springs for the rear wheels and double wishbone suspension at the front add to the ride comfort.

There is a fully integrated CONNECTNEXT Infotainment System powered by Harman™. It features a LCD screen, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod-in, USB-in and AUX-in, along with a CD and AM-FM player offering a six-speaker acoustic experience. Steering mounted controls help you stay connected at all times.

The new Safari Storme is available at a starting price of INR 9.99 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi) in four variants – LX (4×2), EX (4×2), VX (4×2 and 4×4). There are five colors to choose from – Arctic Silver, Urban Bronze, Pearl White, Astern Black and Arctic White. It also comes with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms, whichever is earlier, extendable upto 4 years or 150,000 kms.
