Hyundai unveils its exciting new global SUV – The Creta
Speaking at the showcase of Creta, Mr. BS Seo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, “The Creta is the most awaited and aspirational SUV of the year and would be a revolutionary product in the Hyundai portfolio. The global SUV Creta will herald a new chapter in Hyundai Motor India’s success story and will set a new benchmark in the SUV segment of India with unmatched capabilities. With Hyundai’s strong vision for India, we will strengthen our commitment to the Indian market with the launch of Creta.”
In terms of design, the Creta embodies Hyundai’s unique design philosophy, which has evolved greatly over the years. Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 Design philosophy carries forward the acclaimed and popular Fluidic design theme in a more refined manner, thus lending the Creta a premium look. Designed to offer functionality without compromising on aesthetic, the Creta strikes a balance between style and performance.
The body shell of the new Creta has been engineered in a revolutionary way, using new-age materials like ultra-high tensile steel so as to ensure best in class body rigidity, structural strength and crash test performance. Using the newly developed “Hive Structure”, Hyundai has managed to keep the Creta’s bodyweight low, while bettering driving dynamics and safety. The overall strength and rigidity of the Creta is sure to set a new benchmark in the segment.
The Creta is available with a choice of petrol and diesel engines – a 1.6 Dual VTVT petrol engine and U2 1.4 CRDi & U2 1.6 CRDi VGT diesel engines. The powerful 1.6 Gamma Dual VTVT petrol engine offers 123 PS and the 1.6 CRDi VGT diesel engine offers 128 PS. The engines have been tuned to offer both performance and best in class efficiency. The optional 6 speed automatic transmission in the diesel powered Creta is a first in the segment, and gives drivers enhanced comfort and ease. The Creta also features some truly unique features, like the touchscreen Audio and Navigation system, rear view parking camera and 6 airbags, most of which are segment firsts.
Hyundai aims to set new benchmarks in all segments, and with the Creta, they have truly succeeded. The new SUV offers some best in class features in a package that is aesthetically appealing. On paper, Creta does seem to have what it takes to be the new segment leader.
