Harley-Davidson® FAT BOB® all set to cruise Indian roads

25 November 2012: As the leisure motorcycle culture in India becomes stronger, Harley-Davidson® gives motorcycle enthusiasts another reason to hit the road with the launch of the much awaited Harley-Davidson® Fat Bob® in India early this week. This new addition expands Harley-Davidson India’s portfolio of CKD (Complete Knockdown) models to six.

The Fat Bob® is a motorcycle with real punch, including a hardcore front end, complete with twin headlights for a mean and moody stance. Tommy Gun exhausts add to the distinctive side profile and deliver the glorious 1600cc V-twin soundtrack that is pure Harley-Davidson. The Fat Bob® will be available with an Air cooled, Twin Cam 96™ engine delivering 126 N-m@3500 rpm of peak torque. The super efficient 1585 cc engine is mated to a Six-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission that provides smooth, quiet shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway, so one gets better match between engine turnover and road speed.

With a wide stance and fat styling, the Fat Bob® is bold and dripping with attitude. Muscled up forks, huge headlamp and 130/90B16 front wheel wrapped in a tire give it a menacing stance. It features a distinctive cast chrome double headlamp bucket, that is bound to turn twice as many heads on the road. The ‘Tommy Gun’ 2-1-2 exhaust increases exhaust flow to provide heart stopping performance with the signature Harley-Davidson rumble; combining big style with smart engineering. The rear suspension on the Fat Bob® motorcycle features high-performance coil-over rear shocks that provide a smooth ride and help strike the bike’s eye-catching balance of chrome. The Harley-Davidson Bar and Shield medallion is proudly displayed on the tank which has a capacity of 18.8L.

Other features include anti-lock braking system, adjustable suspension and dual disk front brakes. Priced at Rs.12.80 lacs (ex-showroom Delhi) the Harley-Davidson® Fat Bob® seems slightly high priced for a locally assembled model. However it will find its own niche amongst the die hard cruise bike fans looking for an upgrade or with some extra cash to spare.
