VinFast VF MPV 7 Launches In India. Can a 7-Seat Electric MPV From Vietnam Win Over Indian Families?

Posted on

In less than a year of operating in India, VinFast has done something quite deliberate. First came the VF 6. Then the VF 7. And now, with the launch of the VF MPV 7 at INR 24.49 lacs, the Vietnamese automaker steps into a segment that cuts closest to the Indian heart. The family car. Not just any family car. A seven-seater electric MPV, assembled in India, and priced to make you think twice about everything else in this space. This is VinFast’s third product introduction in India inside a year. Make of that pace what you will, but the intent is unmistakable.

Designed Around the Indian Family

The VF MPV 7 is built around a single, powerful insight: that Indian families travel together, and they need space. Real space. Not the kind that disappears the moment three adults settle into the third row. VinFast has answered that with a theatre-style, three-row seating layout, a best-in-segment wheelbase of 2,840 mm, and a third row that the brand says is genuinely usable for average Indian adults. That last claim, in this segment, is rarer than it should be.

Boot space expands from 126 litres with all seats occupied to a generous 1,240 litres with the rear rows folded. Enough for a long weekend, a family holiday, or the quiet chaos of everyday life. The second row slides, reclines and splits 60:40. The third row reclines and splits 50:50. Every seat gets an adjustable headrest, every occupant gets a three-point belt. These are details that matter.

The cabin feels upmarket and plush. Leatherette upholstery, leatherette-wrapped D-cut steering, leatherette door inserts, and a choice between an all-black sporty interior or a premium dual-tone black and brown. It is understated rather than ostentatious, which suits the brief perfectly.

The Numbers That Matter

A 60.13 kWh lithium-ion battery powers the VF MPV 7 to an ARAI-certified range of 517 kilometres on a single charge. A figure that removes range anxiety from the conversation entirely. Peak output stands at 150 kW with 280 Nm of torque through front-wheel drive, dispatching the 0–100 km/h sprint in under nine seconds. Top speed is 140 km/h.

For charging, 80 kW DC fast charging takes the battery from 10 to 70 percent in 30 minutes. The kind of pit stop that fits into lunch rather than an afternoon. Three drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport, along with multiple regenerative braking settings, give the driver genuine control over how the car behaves and how far it goes.

The suspension has been tuned specifically for Indian road conditions. A detail that suggests VinFast has been paying attention to what actually matters here, rather than simply shipping a global product and hoping for the best.

Connectivity and Comfort

A free-standing 10.1″ infotainment screen handles navigation, media and key vehicle functions, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. ViVi, VinFast’s virtual assistant, is on board. So is Camp Mode, which keeps the lights, climate control and infotainment running when the engine is off. A thoughtful touch for families who stop and linger.

The automatic HVAC comes with a PM2.5 air filter and dedicated third-row air vents, a feature that reflects an understanding of India’s air quality realities. Passive keyless entry, auto-fold ORVMs with LED turn signals, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and all-window auto up/down with anti-pinch round out a convenience package that feels considered rather than ticked off a list.

On safety, the VF MPV 7 comes with ABS, EBD, brake assist, ESC, traction control, hill start assist, rollover mitigation, four airbags, all-disc brakes, and an integrated dynamic braking system.

Six Colours. One Strong Ownership Case.

The VF MPV 7 is available in six exterior colours: Jet Black, Infinity Blanc, Moonlit Ocean, Zenith Grey, Solar Ruby and Introspective Brown. The dual-tone brown and black interior is available across the first four. The all-black sporty interior is available across all six.

The ownership package deserves its own moment. VinFast is offering a 7-year vehicle warranty, a 10-year battery warranty, a 5-year suspension warranty, a 7-year paint warranty, three years of free maintenance, and seven years of roadside assistance. Free EV charging on the V-Green network runs through March 2029. A 75 percent Value Assured buyback programme and a ₹2 lakh incentive for those switching from a petrol or diesel car sweeten the proposition further.

The VF MPV 7 is locally assembled at VinFast’s factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Produced in India, for India, as the company is quick to note.

Our Take

At INR 24.49 lacs, the VF MPV 7 occupies a thoughtful position in the market. Above the mainstream petrol MPVs that still dominate family garages, but well within reach of buyers who have been watching the electric MPV space and waiting for the price to make sense. With 517 km of ARAI-certified range, a warranty package that is frankly difficult to match, and a cabin that has been designed with genuine intelligence, the VF MPV 7 makes a compelling case.

VinFast CEO Tapan Ghosh put it plainly at today’s launch, “The VF MPV 7 is designed to offer generous space for every member of the family, comfort that makes the longest journeys feel effortless, and intelligent features that elevate every drive.”

On paper, at least, they have delivered on that brief. The drive review, whenever it happens, will tell us the rest of the story. Watch this space.
