Highlights from Day 01 at Auto Expo 2020

#AutoExpo2020/ Greater Noida: It was undoubtedly a lukewarm affair, with conversations mostly revolving around the lack of participation by global auto majors, a gloomy industry outlook and the coronavirus outbreak. But the first day of Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2020 still managed over 48 products launches and unveils, including both global & India premiere.

With a theme revolving around ‘Explore the World of Mobility’, the show this year is all about sustainability and green mobility. Most brands also showcased concepts and products focussed on technology & capability – for a safer, cleaner, connected and shared mobility for tomorrow.

The highlights of Day 01 included Maruti Suzuki India’s announcement of an aggressive plan to sell one million green cars over the next few years under its ‘Mission Green Million’ initiative. The company showcased its CONCEPT FUTURO-e vehicle.

Renault revealed the TRIBER EASY-R AMT at the Auto Expo 2020.

Tata Motors showcased the widest range of BSVI compliant portfolio and Unveiled ‘HBX Show car’, based on the ALFA ARC, and the ‘Sierra EV Concept’ and introduced the ‘Hexa Safari Edition’.

Hyundai unveiled The New 2020 TUCSON.

Having successfully introduced category-leading products such as the HECTOR and the ZS EV in the Indian market, MG Motor India showcased the future of mobility with a line-up of global products – including the Marvel X, the world’s first mass-production model to achieve Level-3 Intelligent Driving.

Kia Motors India, introduced two new products for the Indian market. Alongside the aspirational and sophisticated Kia Carnival premium MPV, it also unveiled the new Sonet sub compact SUV concept at the show.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd announced its theme ‘Driven by Purpose’, with a string of mobility solutions at Auto Expo 2020. It has an impressive showcase of 18 vehicles, including future concept vehicle and line-up of electric vehicles, passenger & commercial vehicles. Mahindra turned the spotlight on its range of electric vehicles and unveiled Funster – a roadster concept with a playful convertible mode, ATOM – a new age electric urban mobility solution for smart India’s last mile connectivity & e-XUV300 & e-KUV100 –  the electric vehicles for shared mobility.

Amongst the German major, Mercedez-Benz launched the fastest AMG GT 63S 4M + 4 Door Coupe, and unveiled the AMG A35 4M Limousine and the New GLA SUV. On display at the MB pavilion are the C43 Coupe, AMG G 63, Electric Car EQC 400 4MATIC Edition 1186, Mercedes-Maybach, New E Class, MB Certified C-Class, New Long Wheelbase GLE & the New GLC.

Volkswagen showcased its new SUV portfolio, comprising of the Volkswagen Taigun, T-Roc, Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace.

Škoda Auto India hosted the world static premier of the Vision IN, designed and developed under the Škoda Auto led ‘India 2.0’ project.

Chinese manufacturers, Great Wall Motors, globally premiered its Haval Concept H & announced the India debut of the concept vehicle – Vision 2025, and displayed models- Haval: H9, F7, F7x, F5 and the GWM EV: iQ & R1.

HAIMA Automobile showcased two of its globally successful passenger vehicles – the 7X and 8S and would soon firm up its plans for the Indian market.  Haima automobile showcased its next generation family electric car – Bird Electric EV1, a hatchback that will be available in the range of INR. 10 lacs on Indian roads.
