Volkswagen launches its premium SUV Tiguan at a price of INR 27.68 lacs
First introduced in 2007 in Europe, the Tiguan established itself as a bestseller with high safety parameters. Today it is available across 150 markets with more than 3.5 million owners around the world. The latest generation Tiguan has several class leading features like Pedestrian Safety (Active Hood), 6 Airbags, Hill Start Assist, Auto Hold, Self-sealing tyres, ‘Vienna’ leather seats, Cruise Control, AppConnect, Rain and Light sensor, LED Headlamps with DRLs, LED tail-lamps, Easy open boot, Electrically foldable ORVM, LED illuminated Panoramic Sunroof and Keyless Entry & Go among others.
The Tiguan is a robust and capable SUV for both daily commute or an off-road adventure, with a combination of safety, style, luxury and class leading performance. The 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel drive system is a first for Volkswagen in India. With variable torque transfer to the rear wheels, it has superior acceleration capability and is fun to drive in any situation and any surface. The modular transverse matrix (MQB) platform makes the vehicles lighter, more efficient, spacious, safe and comfortable with a more dynamic drive system and appearance.
Safety being a priority, the SUV is equipped with 6 airbags for occupant protection and an ACTIVE HOOD for pedestrian safety. For added pedestrian protection, the Tiguan is built with special deformation elements in the front bumper, a maximum possible distance between bonnet and engine, and deformable wings, ensuring other road users and pedestrians are exposed to as little danger as possible.
The Tiguan is also the winner of the German Design Award 2017, and its striking proportions give it a sophisticated presence. The horizontally aligned unit formed by the radiator grille and headlights, and the higher waist line result in a confident on-road stance.
It is equipped with the powerful and efficient 2.0L TDI engine mated to a 7 speed automatic DSG transmission that delivers peak power of 143 PS/ 105 kW and 340 Nm of torque ranging from 1750-2750 rpm with a fuel efficiency of 17.06 km/l and a fuel tank capacity of 71 litres.
Combining space, flexibility and comfort, the interiors feature an aesthetic and functional dashboard with driver assist technologies, a 3-zone auto-climate control system including Air Care Climatronic with an allergen filter that delivers precise multi-zone temperature control to all seats. The boot offers 615 litres of space with all seats up and 1655 litres with rear-seat folded.
The Tiguan will be available across all Volkswagen showrooms for test drives and bookings in two trims – Comfortline and Highline. Colour options include Tungsten Silver, Oryx White, Deep Black, Indium Grey and Atlantic Blue.
