Local production of Jeep Compass to commence by June 2017

Pune, 12 April 2017: Jeep Compass is all set to roll out from its Ranjangaon manufacturing facility by June 2017. Over US$ 280 million has been invested in the Jeep Compass project, which is expected to be one of the safest SUVs on Indian roads with several industry-first features.

Two powertrain options will be offered – the 160+ HP, 250 Nm Multi-air petrol and the 170+ HP, 350 Nm, Diesel. The SUV will also come with options of the 6-speed manual transmission and the 7-speed Dual Dry Clutch Technology Automatic or DDCT. Both these engines will be scalable to BS VI regulatory requirements in India.

The Jeep Compass will be true to the brand’s legacy, originality and capability, with the seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches defining its roots. Both the export as well as India models will be identical in terms of build and quality.

Four-wheel drive capability, Selec Terrain Traction Management System, Driveline Disconnect Technology (DDT), Electric Parking Brake (EPB) and Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) are some of the key features of the Jeep Compass. Safety features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Steering Torque (DST), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Adaptive Brake Lights and Panic Brake Assist are standard across the range. The Compass will also be equipped with six airbags with dual stage passenger airbags.

The Made-in-India Jeep Compass is being manufactured in 50 different trim, powertrain, transmission and colour combinations.
