Volvo Group and IISC to collaborate on developing future automotive technologies

Bangalore, 12 December 2016: Volvo Group in India has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Science (IISc), through Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) – the global research, development and engineering arm of Volvo.

Volvo Group is a publicly-held company headquartered in Göteborg, Sweden, and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial engines. With this MoU, it now proposes to undertake research and development in future automotive technologies jointly with IISc. The MoU was signed by Jan-Ove Östensen, VP Advanced Technology & Research, Volvo Group, and Mr. K. Paneer Selvam, In-charge Registrar, IISc.

The initiative will strengthen industry-academia collaboration globally and work towards research and innovation to strengthen the automotive eco-system, with an aim to transform the landscape of transportation for societal and environmental benefit.

The program will look at long-term research collaboration in selected technology areas. Volvo also works closely with other universities globally, including Penn State University, INSA in France, Chalmers University of Technology, Mälardalen University and the University of Skövde in Sweden.
