Season II of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship begins today

Greater Noida, 13 March 2015: Season II of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship kicks off today, Saturday, 14 March 2015, at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida. The main race will be held on Sunday, 15 March 2015.

The T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship is organized by MMSC (Madras Motor Sports Club) and is conducted under the aegis of FIA & FMSCI.

Season I of the event last year saw some intense racing, edge-of-the-seat overtaking and high speed corner action, with an audience of over 20,000 people. Season II will feature 12 Tata Prima race trucks driven by experienced international truck racing drivers from the acclaimed British & European Truck Racing championships. This year, the race trucks boast of over 20% more speed (upto 135 km/hr), new aerodynamic design, increased acceleration and weight reduction up to 10%.

The six teams and driver line up for Season II are Team Castrol Vecton/ Stuart Oliver & Oly Janes, Team Cummins/ Mat Summerfield & Simon Reid, Team Tata Technologies Motorsports/ David Jenkins & Steven Powell , Team Allied Partners/ Steve Rothery & Chris Levett , Team Dealer Warriors/ Richard Collett & Graham Powell and Team Dealer Daredevils/ Ben Horne & Paul Alan McCumisky. The debut season was won by Team Castrol Vecton, followed by Team Cummins and Team Tata Technologies Motor Sports. This year, two free practice sessions and a qualifying race will be held on Saturday, and will be followed by an 8 lap super qualifier and a 16 lap final race on Sunday.

Tata Motors has also introduced a new Indian Drive Selection and Training Program for 2016, to induct and mould potential Indian truck drivers into T1’s future. WABCO, JK Tyres, Cummins, Castrol and Tata Technologies are the main sponsors of the event, and Setco Automotive and Tata Motors Finance are sponsors of Team Allied Partners.
