New Delhi, 11 December 2014: Audi has launched the sporty and versatile compact luxury convertible – the Audi A3 Cabriolet in India at a price of INR 44,75,000, ex-showroom Delhi. First showcased at the Auto Expo 2014, the car is one of the very few open tops to be made available in the country.

Although India is not a conducive market for open tops, there seems to be a growing demand amongst the adrenalin driven affluent willing to experiment on spruced up Indian highways.

The compact open top four-seater is 4421mm in length and has a distinctive, coupé like design with dynamic proportions & an extended rear section, giving it a sporty character. It is available with a lightweight soft-top, and the high quality fabric hood is controlled through a central button; opening and closing in less than 18 seconds, up to a speed of 50 km/h. Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, air intakes and the bumper add to the exterior muscle. An active rollover protection system protects the occupants in the case of a rollover.

The Audi A3 Cabriolet is available in 14 exterior color options with customization options from Audi Exclusive. The interior offers ample space in the front and rear. The instrument panel is lean, and the centre console is angled towards the driver. The three-dimensional trim strips, large round air vents and elegant control panel for the climate control system give a full-size class feel to the interior. Milano leather upholstery is standard, and it has a luggage capacity of 320 litres.

The modular infotainment system at the very top is the optional Bang & Olufsen Sound System and MMI Navigation plus with a retractable seven-inch MMI monitor. The user terminal has a rotary/push button control and MMI Touch® which together form the touch-wheel, the top of which is a touch sensitive pad for inputting letters and numbers. Dual Zone Deluxe Auto Air Conditioning with sun position sensor, new TT inspired Jet turbine design air vents with spot/diffuse function and Light & Rain sensor are some of the other highlights.

The engine is a 1.8 litre petrol with direct injection and turbocharging with an output of 132 kW (180 hp) which can produce 250Nm of torque. The 40TFSI mated with a seven-speed S tronic® dual-clutch transmission adds power delivery with improved efficiency. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 242 km/h.
