New Delhi, 24 February 2014: There is a lot of excitement in the Indian market about Datsun’s entry. Bookings have started for the Datsun GO and so has production at Renault-Nissan’s Oragadam plant in Chennai. The entry level hatchback can be booked for a mere INR. 11,000 and promises to be priced under INR. 4.0 lacs. The car has 90% localization and the superior build quality and interior specs significantly raise the bar for the average budget car. Powered by the 3-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Micra, it will have a fuel efficiency of around 20 km/l. To top it, Datsun will offer a two-year/unlimited km warranty which is quite an aggressive entry strategy for the segment. A diesel engine for the GO is likely to be introduced at a later date. While the Datsun GO is packaged well, it is to be seen how far it can actually GO. The early mover advantage gained by Maruti Suzuki with the mint fresh launch of Celerio will be hard to beat. Celerio has already been seeing some encouraging early bookings and is set to disrupt the entry hatch category.

At the recent 12th Delhi Auto Expo 2014 held at Greater Noida, Datsun also showcased the GO+ and the global small crossover concept, redi-GO.

Datsun Go+:
The Datsun GO+ was developed as a cozy, movable family lounge, with clean styling, a modern sleek design, a dynamic silhouette and strong shoulder line. Agile on the exterior with ample space inside, it is meant for families, packages, bags and cargo with thoughtful smart seating configuration for the front, second and extra third row seats.

For example, an integrated gear-shift knob and parking brake lever with the instrumental panel, yields more floor space. Tested in local and extreme road and weather conditions, Datsun GO+ is the perfect mobility solution for carrying you through your busy work days or meeting your relaxing and recharging weekend needs.

Datsun redi-GO CONCEPT:
Built on Datsun’s design language, the redi-GO is a distinctive 5 door hatchback with a rugged SUV stance. With its short overhangs and crossover-style raised body, the compact concept looks agile and robust. The modern headlights incorporate distinctive, narrow daytime running lights while the rear LED taillights feature an idiosyncratic twist of light to give it a unique visual signature when on the move. A wheelbase of 2,350 mm and high ground clearance offers ample interior space, while the raised body and large wheel arches offer greater ground clearance and a commanding driving position.
