#AutoExpo2014 updates: DC Design unveils two new concepts Eleron and Tia

New Delhi, 05 February 2014: India’s premier automotive design and specialist car manufacturer DC Design unveiled two exciting new concepts at the 2014 Auto Expo, that will be production bound in 2016.

The DC Eleron and the DC Tia represent DC Design’s ability to conceive an idea for various niche segments and then design and develop a vehicle with unique attributes that go beyond mere style. While the Eleron is an open Targa-topped SUV with radical lines, the Tia is a nifty two-seater runabout for town use with outrageously crafted lines yet packing in a proven small driveline.

Core to the Eleron is not just its extrovert styling, but also what it shrouds under its exquisite designer skin. While style and external design have always been DC Design’s raison d’etre, its engineering skills have now developed to a very high degree.

The Eleron runs on a huge 3090mm wheelbase and has a mega-stance, riding on large 22-inch wheels wrapped with 285/45 tyres on the front & rear. It is powered by a state-of-the-art Euro-5 compliant turbocharged petrol engine of 2.0-litre displacement that is good for 265bhp of power and 360Nm of torque and should be more than enough for the Eleron to demolish mountains while thundering over our checkered terrain. Transmission will be an all-automatic affair, a proper 5-speed gearbox with torque converter doing duty in transferring power to all four wheels.

The Eleron is a two-door vehicle, and it’s Targa-style roof is probably unique in the automotive world. In terms of material technology it goes in for a carbon-kevlar skin, attempting to bring in a light-weight yet ultra-strong material in place of aluminum or sheet steel.

The Eleron has a top speed of 200km/h with a zero to 100 km/h acceleration time of 9.0 seconds.

The DC Tia is a small city oriented runabout, positioned as a premium product at the bottom of the pyramid. This is an ultra compact  open top ‘barchetta’ style smart car measuring end-to-end at just 2550mm and has a turning radius of 4m. Powered by a 1.2 litre Petrol Turbo Euro-5 compliant engine, it has an output of 120 HP/190 Nm and comes with 4 speed automatic transmission. It has a maximum speed of 160 km/h and does zero to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds.

Also on display was the Avanti mid-engine sports car, which is now ready for production and would be available by in the market by mid 2014.
